ULAB Faculty Members Complete Certificate Course on Active Learning

Four faculty members from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) successfully completed the Certificate Course on Teaching for Active Learning (TAL–Batch 15), held from 10 to 12 April 2025, at East West University. Organized by the Foundation for Learning, Teaching and Research (fLTR), the intensive three-day program aimed to strengthen professionalism in teaching and promote interactive, student-centered learning strategies in higher education.

The course brought together 25 participants from eight universities across Bangladesh. Representing ULAB were Ms. Naima Khatun and Dr. SK Tasthekur Hossain Kowshik from the School of Business, Mr. Md. Didarul Islam from Bangla Bhasha O Sahitya, and Mr. Md. Mahady Hasan from Media Studies and Journalism.

The event was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of East West University, who underscored the critical role of active learning in fostering student engagement and critical thinking. The sessions were led by Professor Dr. Golam Samdani Fakir, Chairperson of fLTR, alongside other experienced facilitators. ULAB’s Professor Imran Rahman and Dr. M. Shazzad Hossain contributed to the program by delivering key sessions on teaching philosophy and the traits of high-performing educators.

The training concluded with a certificate-awarding ceremony, where participants expressed their eagerness to implement innovative and engaging teaching practices in their classrooms.
