ULAB Conducts Faculty Orientation Programme Spring 2026
Participants, organizers and resource persons at the New Faculty Orientation Program at ULAB
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized its New Faculty Orientation Programme for Spring 2026 on 12 January 2026. The day-long programme, arranged by the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), aimed to introduce newly recruited faculty members to ULAB’s academic philosophy, institutional policies, and teaching values. Fourteen faculty members participated in the orientation.
The programme commenced with welcome remarks from Professor Jude William Genilo, PhD, Pro Vice-Chancellor. Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, Vice Chancellor, facilitated a session on the significance of liberal arts education, highlighting its interdisciplinary foundations and its role in nurturing critical thinking and ethical leadership.
Professor Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, Treasurer and Professor of the School of Business, delivered an address emphasizing teaching as a noble profession grounded in integrity, dedication, and responsibility toward students and society.
The programme featured a series of thematic sessions on academic career development, research engagement, institutional policies, mental well-being, and responsible communication. These sessions were conducted by Professor Nafees Mansoor, PhD; Dr. Wazir A. F. Ahmad; Dr. Mohammad Shazzad Hossain; Dr. Sarkar Barbaq Quarmal; Ms. Sameera Zaman; Ms. Arzoo Ismail; and Mr. Bikash Basak. Together, they provided comprehensive insights into ULAB’s academic culture, quality assurance practices, research expectations, and student-centered teaching approach.
The programme concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting session, symbolizing a warm and collegial welcome for the new faculty members and reaffirming ULAB’s commitment to fostering a supportive and vibrant academic community.
