Bangladesh’s Certified WURI Mentors Convene for First Strategic Meeting

Five (5) WURI mentors in online meeting
The five Certified WURI Mentors (CWMs) from Bangladesh held their first virtual meeting on 7 April 2026, marking a significant milestone in the country’s engagement with the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) framework. As the only certified mentors currently representing Bangladesh, the session provided an important platform to build connections, exchange insights, and align efforts to advance innovation in higher education.
The meeting focused on sharing individual experiences related to institutional innovation practices and exploring opportunities for collaboration. A key outcome was the agreement to initiate a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at promoting WURI rankings and encouraging broader participation among universities across Bangladesh. During the discussion, the mentors underscored their role in supporting higher education institutions to develop strong and competitive WURI submissions. Their responsibilities include guiding universities in understanding the WURI innovation framework, mentoring first-time participants, and assisting institutions in effectively showcasing their innovative initiatives on a global stage.
The mentors also reaffirmed their commitment to neutrality and transparency, emphasizing that while they provide guidance and advisory support, they do not take part in the evaluation or ranking decision-making process. This collective initiative is expected to enhance awareness of WURI rankings in Bangladesh and motivate more universities to present their innovative achievements internationally. The mentors expressed optimism about strengthening Bangladesh’s presence in global innovation rankings while fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence within the higher education sector.
