Professor Represents ULAB at HLU Annual Conference 2026

Professor Jude William R. Genilo, PhD, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), represented the university at the Hanseatic League of Universities (HLU) Annual Conference 2026 and WURI Global Rankings Announcement held on 6 May 2026 at National Chi Nan University in Nantou, Taiwan.
During the conference, Professor Genilo delivered two presentations highlighting ULAB’s innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and sustainability in higher education.
In the session on Digital Governance in Universities, he presented “ULAB’s Blended Learning Journey: Innovation with Purpose.” The presentation outlined how ULAB has approached blended learning not merely as a technological transition but as a transformation of pedagogy, assessment, and institutional responsibility. A central theme was the university’s shift toward authentic assessment and the Proof-of-Learning (POL) model, through which students demonstrate their learning through real-world applied projects, ethical and transparent engagement with artificial intelligence, and oral defense and critical reflection.
The presentation emphasized that in an era of rapidly advancing AI technologies, meaningful innovation lies in making learning visible through demonstrated understanding rather than content reproduction. It also highlighted the importance of ensuring that innovation remains equity-driven, particularly in Global South contexts, while keeping technology aligned with pedagogical goals and adopting flexible, contextual, and human-centered approaches to blended learning.
Professor Genilo also presented “Greening the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB)” during the session on Resilient Universities. The presentation showcased ULAB’s comprehensive approach to sustainability and institutional resilience through its Greening ULAB Program. The programme encompasses green campus development, climate-responsive architecture, sustainability-focused curricula, waste and resource management systems, research and collaboration on sustainable development, and student engagement as active agents of change. The presentation emphasized that institutional resilience extends beyond physical infrastructure and requires sustainability to be embedded in everyday practices, decision-making, and organizational culture.
The conference provided an important platform for engaging with higher education leaders, researchers, and practitioners from around the world on issues related to innovation, sustainability, and resilience. Professor Genilo’s participation highlighted ULAB’s commitment to purpose-driven innovation, sustainable development, and international collaboration in addressing contemporary global challenges in higher education.
