27th Meeting of ULAB-QAC Reviews Key Quality Assurance Priorities
The Quality Assurance Committee held its 27th meeting on 20 July 2026.
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized the 27th Meeting of the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) on 20 July 2026 at the Chancellery Boardroom. Chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, the meeting brought together university leaders, senior academics, administrators, and quality assurance professionals to review progress on institutional quality initiatives and identify priorities for continued improvement.
A key highlight of the meeting was the welcome extended to Professor Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed Choudhury, Professor and Dean of the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering at Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology (BAUST), Saidpur, who joined the QAC as the University Grants Commission (UGC) representative. His extensive academic and quality assurance experience at the national and international levels was recognized as a valuable addition to the Committee.
Following the approval of the minutes of the 26th QAC Meeting, the Committee reviewed progress on action points from its previous meeting. Discussions covered a range of institutional quality initiatives, including the proposed feedback mechanisms for administrative support services, fire safety and earthquake preparedness, integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and refresher training programs for senior employees. The Committee acknowledged progress in these areas while stressing the importance of completing outstanding activities within the agreed timelines.
The Committee also reviewed several key quality assurance and institutional development matters. These included the Internal Audit Plan covering Fall 2025 and Spring 2026; the status of ISO documentation for 2026; preparations for Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) accreditation; strategies for improving ULAB’s performance in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and QS Sustainability Rankings; and findings from the 2025 Graduate Employability Survey and the Summer 2025 Graduate and Postgraduate Exit Surveys.

Kamal Uddin, PhD, Director, Institutional Research Centre (IRC); Dr. Sarkar Barbaq Quarmal, PhD; Ekhtear Ahmed Zeesan, Consultant, IQAC, Graduate Exit and Employability Surveys; Md. Nazmul Hossain Bhuian, Senior Manager, Administration; Md. Mahmud Hossain, Deputy Director, Student Affairs Office (SAO); and Md. Bachu Mia, Assistant Manager, IQAC.
The 27th QAC Meeting reaffirmed ULAB’s commitment to continuous quality improvement, evidence-based decision-making, institutional accountability, and academic excellence. Through regular monitoring, stakeholder engagement, systematic quality assurance processes, and strategic planning, the QAC continues to play a central role in strengthening ULAB’s institutional quality systems and advancing its journey toward national accreditation and greater international recognition.
