IQAC Director Attends 1st AUAP–WURI Impact Summit 2026 in Bangkok
1st AUAP–WURI Impact Summit held in Bangkok last 9 to 10 July 2026.
Professor Jude William R. Genilo, PhD, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), participated in the 1st AUAP–WURI Impact Summit 2026, held on 9–10 July 2026 at the Arnoma Grand Bangkok Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. Organized by the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) in collaboration with the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), South Korea, the two-day international summit brought together university presidents, vice chancellors, government officials, policymakers, embassy representatives, and innovation experts from across the region.
Held under the theme “University Innovation in Partnership with Government: Policy, Mechanism, and Impact,” the summit explored how universities and governments can work together to advance national development priorities through innovation, policy engagement, and strategic partnerships. Discussions focused on policy frameworks, governance mechanisms, institutional strategies, innovation performance, accountability, and measurable social, technological, and economic impact.
The summit featured comparative country perspectives, evidence-based case studies, and expert discussions examining how universities can contribute more effectively to national priorities and sustainable development. Particular attention was given to strengthening universities’ societal impact through closer engagement with government and public policy. A major highlight was the advancement of the AUAP–WURI Joint World Ranking & Award for Highly Ranked Universities 2026–2027, reflecting the organizations’ shared commitment to recognizing innovation-driven excellence and institutional impact in higher education.
Professor Genilo’s participation provided an opportunity to engage with international university leaders and innovation experts and to exchange insights on how institutions can strengthen their innovation ecosystems, quality assurance mechanisms, institutional impact, and engagement with national development priorities. The summit reinforced an increasingly important principle in higher education: universities are not only centers of teaching and research but also important partners in addressing society’s most pressing challenges. For ULAB, participation in such international platforms supports its continuing efforts to strengthen institutional quality, innovation, global engagement, and measurable societal impact.
