Ms. Sarzah Yeasmin Appointed Director of CETL

Sarzah Yeasmin was recently appointed CETL Director.

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has appointed Ms. Sarzah Yeasmin as Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). She brings an interdisciplinary academic and professional background spanning higher education, public policy, international development, governance, and institutional innovation.

Ms. Yeasmin holds a Master’s degree in International Education Policy from Harvard University, where she graduated with a GPA of 3.9. She earned her BA in Economics and Politics from Mount Holyoke College, graduating magna cum laude. She is also pursuing an MITx MicroMasters in Data, Economics, and Design of Policy. With 10 years of professional experience, Ms. Yeasmin has worked across higher education, public policy, international development, governance, and institutional innovation. Her professional experience includes engagements with Harvard University, the World Bank, UNICEF, and New York University Abu Dhabi, as well as government institutions and development partners across North America, the Middle East, and South Asia. She has also led a Harvard Kennedy School project supporting public-sector reform and capacity development in Bangladesh.

Her professional and research interests encompass comparative education policy, higher education, AI and society, public governance, institutional reform, international development, and mixed-methods research. Her current work focuses particularly on AI governance, digital inequality, and the future of education in the Global South. She is also an active public scholar, contributing through academic publications, policy reports, conference presentations, and media engagements on education, governance, migration, AI, and international affairs.

As she assumes leadership of CETL, Ms. Yeasmin will build on the Center’s continuing efforts to strengthen teaching excellence, faculty development, innovative pedagogy, and technology-enhanced learning at ULAB.

ULAB also expresses its sincere appreciation to Dr. Mohammad Shazzad Hossain, the outgoing Director of CETL, for his three years of dedicated service and leadership. During his tenure, Dr. Hossain played an important role in strengthening the University’s teaching and learning culture. He led initiatives to enhance faculty members’ teaching pedagogy, understanding of ULAB’s institutional culture, and approaches to student performance assessment. He also contributed significantly to the advancement of blended learning, including the development of a curriculum for faculty development and the organization of summits and other platforms focused on teaching and learning.

His leadership helped establish a stronger foundation for faculty development and pedagogical innovation at ULAB. The University appreciates his commitment and contributions to the continuous enhancement of teaching and learning and wishes him every success in his future endeavors.

With the appointment of Ms. Yeasmin and the foundation established during Dr. Hossain’s tenure, CETL looks forward to a new phase of innovation, faculty development, and excellence in teaching and learning.
