UGC Appoints Professor Imtiaz Ahmed Choudhury as Representative to ULAB-QAC
Professor Imtiaz Ahmed Choudhury, PhD, UGC Representative to ULAB-IQAC
The University Grants Commission (UGC) appointed Professor Imtiaz Ahmed Choudhury, PhD, as its representative to the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) on 29 June 2026. His appointment strengthens the University’s engagement with the national quality assurance system and brings extensive academic and professional expertise to ULAB’s quality assurance activities.
Professor Choudhury currently serves as Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology (BAUST), Saidpur. Earlier in his career, he served as a professor at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) and spent more than 15 years as a professor at the University of Malaya, Malaysia.
He has an extensive academic and research background, with engineering and postgraduate qualifications from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand), Arizona State University (USA), and Dublin City University (Ireland). He is also a Chartered Engineer (UK) and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
Professor Choudhury brings significant experience in academic quality assurance, accreditation, program evaluation, research, and curriculum and program development. He has served as a BAETE-appointed evaluation team member for undergraduate program accreditation and has undertaken several academic quality and program development responsibilities, including chairing a Program Self-Assessment Committee at AUST.
His appointment to the ULAB-QAC is particularly valuable given his direct experience in institutional and program-level quality assurance. His expertise will contribute to ULAB’s continuing efforts to strengthen its quality management systems, academic standards, accreditation readiness, evidence-based quality improvement, and institutional effectiveness.
