The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized an Orientation Program for Internal Auditors on 23 July 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Room PD105. The program was part of IQAC’s continuing efforts to strengthen the University’s internal quality assurance system and foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making. The orientation brought together newly appointed and experienced internal auditors from various academic and administrative units across the University. It aimed to familiarize participants with the objectives, principles, procedures, and practices of internal quality audits, in alignment with ULAB’s Quality Management System (QMS) and the requirements of ISO 9001:2015.

The session covered the roles and responsibilities of internal auditors, audit planning and execution, evidence-based auditing techniques, documentation and reporting, and the identification of opportunities for continual improvement. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of maintaining objectivity, impartiality, confidentiality, and professionalism throughout the audit process.

Professor Jude William R. Genilo, PhD, Pro Vice Chancellor, welcomed the auditors and highlighted the strategic importance of internal audits in helping the University achieve its mission, vision, goals, and objectives. He emphasized that internal audits should not be viewed merely as a compliance exercise, but as an important mechanism for identifying strengths, addressing gaps, and improving institutional processes.

Dr. Wazir AF Ahmad, PhD, Additional Director, IQAC, facilitated the orientation and engaged both new and experienced auditors in discussions on their roles and experiences in the internal audit process. The session provided an opportunity for participants to share practical insights and strengthen their understanding of effective audit practices.  Through initiatives such as this, IQAC continues to strengthen ULAB’s quality culture by developing the capacity of its internal auditors and ensuring that internal audits function as a practical tool for learning, accountability, risk identification, and continuous improvement across academic and administrative operations.
