The University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) organized a four day long workshop on fostering and advancing curriculum and research in Communication for Development (C4D) on 20-23 August 2017 at the UGC Auditorium, Agargaon, Dhaka.The main objectives of the workshop were to share the findings of a study conducted by Ohio University, USA., among Bangladeshi institutions and universities to assess C4D-related teaching and research programmes. The findings of the study will inform the development of a capacity strengthening strategy in C4D and potential collaboration between institutions and development partners on social and behavior change. The opening ceremony was held on 20 August 2017 at Hotel Amari, Gulshan-2. Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC graced the occasion while Mr. Edouard Beigbeder, Representative, UNICEF, BCO was present as special guest. A team of five academicians headed by Dr. David Mould, Professor (Emeritus), Ohio University facilitated the sessions along with a number of professionals working in the development field. IQAC Director Prof. Jude William Genilo joined this workshop, which was also attended by 46 academics from the fields of Mass Communication and Journalism, Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, Public Administration, Economics, Nutrition and Food Science, Community Health and Hygiene, Emergency Management, Business, Development Studies and Population Science.
