ULAB Passes the ISO Surveillance Audit
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) passed the surveillance audit held 24 September 2020 to maintain its ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System Certification. The certification covers all education and administrative support activities of the university's undergraduate and graduate programs.
Mukul Johari and V.K. Saxena from the Equalitas Certifications Limited conducted the surveillance audit online. They interviewed and inspected documents from various academic departments, most especially General Education, Media Studies and Journalism and Computer Science and Engineering. Various administrative departments were likewise monitored, particularly Admission, Human Resource, Registry, Purchase, General Administration and Institutional Quality Assurance Cell. At the end of the audit, the auditors conducted an exit meeting with the top administrators of the university, led by ULAB Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. H M Jahirul Haque.
The university's ISO 9001: 2015 journey started five years ago. In March 2015, ULAB Vice President Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed and then Vice Chancellor (now Special Adviser to the BoT) Prof. Imran Rahman approved the proposal for ISO Quality Management System Certification. They believed that the exercise will help ULAB become more efficient. It will enable the university to focus on its core areas - leading to increased productivity and better student service. ISO is likewise a globally recognized standard, which will improve the reputation of the university.
In August 2015, ULAB commissioned Social Vision Limited to be its consultant. In March 2016, Social Vision Limited trained the first batch of internal auditors. Among many other things, this training was instrumental for ULAB to obtain ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System Certification on 26 September 2019. In November 2019, after passing an examination, ULAB's first batch of lead auditors were accredited.
ULAB initially obtained ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System Certification on 26 September 2019. Re-certification is due on 25 September 2022.
