The 51st Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) was held virtually on 1 to 5 February 2021.  Hosted in Islamabad, Pakistan, the following were the main speakers of the meeting:  Dr. El-Nasir M A Lalani (Founding Director of  Aga Khan University’s Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research); Louis Hyunho Choi (Executive Officer of Trans-Eurasia Information Network Cooperation Centre - TEIN*CC); Dr. Omer Rana (Professor of Performance Engineering and the Dean of International for the Physical Sciences and Engineering College at Cardiff University); Eric Yen (Research Scientist Academia Sinica Grid Computing Centre);  Jun Murai (Distinguished Professor, Keio University); Helga Spitaler (Senior International Relations Project Manager, GÉANT).

APAN is the backbone network that connects the research and education networks of its member countries/economies to each other and to other research networks around the world. It is also a key driver in promoting and facilitating network-enabled research and education activities. These include research collaboration, knowledge discovery and sharing, tele-health and natural disaster mitigation.  Prof. Dr. Jude William Genilo, Director of IQAC of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, attended the conference.
