'Using and Creating the Open Education Resources' Workshops Held
University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and Commonwealth Educational Media Center for Asia (CEMCA) New Delhi, India jointly organized a workshop on “Capacity Building of Higher Education Teachers of Bangladesh on using and creating the Open Education Resource” on 29 July to 31 July (Synchronous) via Zoom and 29 July to 2 August (Asynchronous) via Whatsapp. Hon’ble UGC Members Prof. Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Prof. Dr. Abu Taher and Dr. Ferdous Zaman were present in the inaugural session of the workshop and delivered opening remarks.
Indira Gandhi National University Professor Dr. Madhu Parhar was also present in the inaugural session. Dr. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, CEMCA Senior Program Officer was the main online workshop facilitator. The five-day long workshop (synchronous and asynchronous) was coordinated and monitored by Prof. Mostafa Azad Kamal, Treasurer and Dean, School of Business, Bangladesh Open University. Around 500 participants from 20 public and private universities in Bangladesh attended the workshop. Several faculty and staff from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh participated in the workshop.
On 9 to 11 August 2021, a follow up workshop was conducted by the same team on “Institutional Open Education Resources Policy Making.” Professor Dr. Mostofa Azad Kamal, Treasurer and Dean, School of Business, Bangladesh Open University, facilitated the OER policy session. In the last day, all university representatives presented their draft OER policy. Dr. Farhana Sarker, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department gave a presentation on behalf of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh.
