IQAC Seeks New ISO Internal Auditors
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is recruiting new internal auditors from among its faculty and staff for ISO Quality Management System 9001:2015. At present, there are five internal auditors – Wazir AF Ahmad, Habibur Rahman, Joyanti Bardhan, Md. Roknuzzaman and Zamal Uddin Bhuiyan. However, with 7 academic departments and 12 administrative units under review per term, there is a need for a healthier auditor-department ratio. Internal auditors have the responsibility for: checking the unit’s/department’s master list of documents, ensuring compliance with the university’s various operation manuals and making suggestions for the improvement of processes. Before becoming an auditor, the applicant is required to attend a training. The training aims to enrich the participant’s knowledge of Quality Management Systems, and enable them to have a more holistic understanding of ISO standards, processes and requirements. Furthermore, at the organization level, the training will enhance overall awareness of quality standards and responsibilities and assist in managing risks and maintaining ISO 9001:2015 quality standards. The university's ISO QMS 9001: 2015 journey started five years ago. In March 2015, ULAB Vice President Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed and Vice Chancellor Prof. Imran Rahman approved the proposal for ISO Quality Management System Certification. They believed that the exercise will help ULAB become more efficient. It will enable the university to focus on its core areas - leading to increased productivity and better student service. ISO is likewise a globally recognized standard, which will improve the reputation of the university.
