The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has achieved ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification. The certification, granted on 16 October 2024, following a surveillance audit conducted on 15 September 2024, encompasses all educational and administrative support activities within ULAB’s undergraduate and graduate programs.

The day-long surveillance audit, led online by V.K. Saxena and Dr. Mukul Johari of Certifications Limited, involved detailed interviews and document inspections across various academic and administrative units. The Department of Media Studies and Journalism was audited alongside departments including Admissions, Communications, Human Resources, Registry, General Administration, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), Co-Curricular Office, Student Affairs Office, and Institutional Quality Assurance Cell. The audit concluded with an exit meeting attended by ULAB’s top administrators, led by Vice Chancellor Professor Imran Rahman.

ULAB’s journey toward ISO 9001:2015 QMS certification began in March 2015, when Vice President Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed and then (now current) Vice Chancellor Professor Imran Rahman approved the initiative to enhance institutional efficiency, productivity, and student services. Recognizing the global prestige of the ISO standard, ULAB sought to bolster its reputation while reinforcing its commitment to quality.

In August 2015, ULAB engaged Social Vision Limited as a consultant, and in March 2016, the first batch of internal auditors received training, marking a crucial step toward the university’s certification on 26 September 2019. The same year, ULAB’s inaugural lead auditors earned accreditation, reinforcing the institution’s internal quality assurance. ULAB’s certification, initially granted in September 2019, is scheduled for re-certification on 25 September 2025.
