ULAB Receives Anew ISO 9001: 2015 QMS Certification
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) receives anew the ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System Certification. The surveillance audit was held on 14 September 2023 and the certification was presented on 10 October 2023. The certification covers all education and administrative support activities of the undergraduate and graduate programs.
Dr. Mukul Johari from the Equalitas Certifications Limited led the day long surveillance audit online. The external auditors interviewed and inspected documents from various academic departments, including the Department of English and Humanities, ULAB School of Business, Center for Language Studies, and Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Various administrative units were audited. Admission, Communications, Human Resource, Registry, Purchase, General Administration, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), Co-Curricular office, Students Affairs Office and Institutional Quality Assurance Cell were among them. At the end of the audit, the auditors conducted an exit meeting with the top administrators of the university, led by ULAB Vice Chancellor Professor Imran Rahman.
The university's ISO 9001: 2015 QMS journey started eight years ago. In March 2015, ULAB Vice President Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed and Vice Chancellor Prof. Imran Rahman approved the proposal for ISO Quality Management System Certification. They believed that the exercise will help ULAB become more efficient. It will enable the university to focus on its core areas - leading to increased productivity and better student service. ISO is likewise a globally recognized standard, which will improve the reputation of the university.
In August 2015, ULAB commissioned Social Vision Limited to be its consultant. In March 2016, Social Vision Limited trained the first batch of internal auditors. Among many other things, this training was instrumental for ULAB to obtain ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System Certification on 26 September 2019. In November 2019, after passing an examination, ULAB's first batch of lead auditors were accredited.
ULAB obtained ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System Certification on 20 September 2019. Re-certification is due on 25 September 2025.
