Spring Term faculty orientation program on 1 February 2025.

 

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) warmly welcomed sixteen new faculty members during an orientation program held on 1 February 2025. The event began with an inspiring keynote address by Professor Jude William Genilo, Pro Vice-Chancellor of ULAB, who outlined the university’s mission, vision, and core values.

The program featured a series of interactive sessions designed to spark thought-provoking discussions on the dual roles of faculty as educators and researchers. Dr. Abdullah Al Mahmud, Associate Professor in the Department of English & Humanities (DEH), led a session on the transformative impact of liberal arts education, emphasizing its role in fostering "the wholeness and holiness of knowledge." Sameera Zaman, Lecturer and Research Associate at the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD), highlighted ULAB’s innovative research projects and initiatives, demonstrating the university’s commitment to addressing global challenges through collaboration.

Dr. M. Shazzad Hossain, Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), underscored the importance of creating inclusive, gender-sensitive classrooms that align with the values and expectations of Gen Z learners. Moinak Kanungo, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office (SAO) and Co-Curricular Office (CCO), provided an overview of the comprehensive support services available to faculty, ensuring a smooth transition into their new roles. Shawkat Tanveer Rahman, Assistant Proctor, elaborated on the Proctor’s Office’s initiatives to maintain a safe, supportive, and conducive academic environment.

The day concluded with insightful discussions led by Dr. Nafees Mansoor and Musa Mohammad Arif Billah, who explored research opportunities and introduced the range of services offered by the Human Resources Office.
